About Me
From graduating with a Biochemistry degree I started a career in management with a national food retailer starting out in store management and later marketing and managing packaging design projects. However, I loved the great outdoors, being in nature and tending plants, and after 17 years this led me to re-evaluate my career path.
In 2005 I qualified for a Diploma in Garden Design with the KLC School of Design in London and in 2009 passed the Royal Horticultural Society Certificate in Horticulture with a commendation.
With over 15 years of experience in garden design I continue to provide garden consultants, designs and planting schemes for clients in and around Bedfordshire.
My focus is on making beautiful spaces for people to enjoy in a way that is sympathetic to the local environment, kind to our local wildlife and with sustainability in mind.
I have extensive plant knowledge and can advise on existing plants as well as creating appropriate and beautiful new planting schemes for you to enjoy in all seasons.
Why I love designing gardens
Garden design encompasses many disciplines. Creating a design brief requires having the ability to listen to clients’ dreams and aspirations and then reflecting these in the design. Surveying the site requires mathematical accuracy and attention to detail. Designing requires creativity and problem solving ability. Finally, planting design requires an eye for colour and form and horticultural knowledge.
The diversity of these disciplines is one of the reasons I enjoy designing gardens as it utilises my skills and experience in science, horticulture, design and project management, as well as my ability to understand and respond to the needs of my clients.
Above all, the satisfaction of seeing a finished garden, and a few months down the line, a happy client that loves spending time in their new garden, is a joy.
