Steeply Sloping Small Garden – Ampthill
This was a new build property with limited paving, a sloping lawn and a tall timber post retaining wall to the rear.
The garden was difficult to use due to the slope in a limited space.
The clients disliked the timber posts and wanted the garden to be a more useful and beautiful space with more hard standing areas for outdoor dining and relaxation.
My approach to the brief was to create a larger level area around the house with a series of planted terraces rising to the rear. Steps and paths winding through the terraces would allow access to the beds.
I included a smaller terrace at the mid-level which could be used at a different time of day and to allow for a different view of the garden.
