Country Garden – Old Warden
This garden is on two levels and was overgrown in places. The brief was to create a more interesting space with no lawn at the lower level and traditional in style to suit the architecture the house.
Wide steps lead to the upper area and the two levels are divided by terraced beds of shrubs and perennials for colour and interest throughout the year. The beds were curved alongside the house for added interest.
A productive area screened by bespoke metal ‘trellis’ was created at the far end with raised timber beds and a greenhouse.
The driveway was separated from the rest of the garden by a tall wall and close-weave timber trellis. The wall was built with an overhead arch to accommodate a bespoke gate designed by the client.
A trio of paths was created from the gate, garage and front of the property centering on a cylinder of Box that reflected the circular nature of the gate.
