Thanks to a campaign by the Society of Garden Designers and other landscape organisations, there has been an amendment to the hosepipe ban to allow people to water newly planted areas of their garden using a hosepipe. It means that if an area of your garden has been planted by a garden designer or other garden related professional, then you can water it using a hose pipe for a period of 28 days. The exception (K) which can be found on the Anglian Water website states:

“Using a hosepipe to water a garden or to water plants where such watering is

restricted to newly laid turf, newly sown lawns and newly planted trees, shrubs and

plants when the planting has been carried out as a service to customers in the

course of a business. This exemption only applies for a period of 28 days from the

day of planting, sowing or turf laying.”
