Before/Project Brief
This was a small garden with brick walls on three sides. The design brief was to create a contemporary garden for relaxing and dining and which had a sense of simplicity.

The stone is sawn sandstone which has a smooth texture to enhance the calm, contemporary feel of the space. The raised beds are rendered and painted, and offer additional places to sit. The pebbles offer a contrast in terms of colour and texture.

The water feature adds a different form into the garden space and provides the relaxing sound of trickling water.

There is lighting inset into the rendered walls to add ambience in the evenings.


	The garden is mainly planted with edible plants, for example fruit bushes, strawberries and herbs. The remainder of the planting offers different foliage colours and textures with small oriental grasses such as Hakonechloa and shrubs that will eventually soften the walls such as Pyracantha.
