Before/Project Brief
The brief for this garden was to create a space with a contemporary feel. There needed to be terrace space for a small table and chairs to catch the evening sun, but also an area for a couple of chairs directly outside the back door for the morning sun. The client also wanted a small area of lawn and lots of interesting planting.

The paving, polished sandstone cut into long strips, was a key feature in this garden because of its beautiful texture. I wanted to use this shape of stone to give the effect of widening the garden whilst the texture gave a contemporary feel in-keeping with the interior of the house.
A small terrace area outside the back door led over stepping stones set in gravel to the main terrace.
The lawn area was edged with these paving stones for ease of mowing and to add to the contemporary feel.

  

Small Contemporary Garden Views

  There were deep planting beds at the edge of the garden and also between the lawn and the terrace to add foreground interest viewed from the house.
Two semi-mature trees were added to screen neighbouring houses and trellis to be covered in climbers was used to screen the dustbins from view.		   Small Contemporary Garden Views Small Contemporary Garden Bed
